THE BEST OF MEN ARE STILL MEN NOT ANGELS (Motivations)

By Habu Dawaki

“Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes”
Oscar wilder, 1892.

High achievers both past and present are not those who never make mistake but those who never dwell on them. They know that we are all mere mortals and making ommissions, bad judgments and misteps is part of life's journey. Moreso, as humans everyone has weaknesses and limitations which can only be overcome as we grow.

One of the tragedies of life is those who carry heavy burdens of anger, hate … and lot more of what those supposedly close to them have done. As a result you find them disconnecting themselves from the very people they need to help them reach their destiny.

They forget that the best of men are still men not angels; that we all make mistakes; that we are not perfect and we should create little rooms in our hearts for forgiveness and improvement. Why should we hate people who have been so good and kind to us because of one or two errors in judgment, actions, choices, ignorance, misinformation, lack of relevant information and the likes? When someone does something wrong, don’t forget all the things they did right.

Yes, some wonderful people's faults, oversights, misjudgements flaws sometimes hurts. The good news is some do learn from their mistakes. They learn better ways of doing things at the same time TRY not to make those miscalculations again.

Angie Thomas said, "At an early age I learned that people make mistakes, and you have to decide if their mistakes are bigger than your love for them."

I quite agree that some blunders can be expensive even fatal. Sometimes it is quite difficult to mend fences and restore relationships but we must take decisive steps towards getting things right. Don't forget, misunderstandings has to do with decisions of yesterday. You cannot keep yesterday alive and pursue after your tomorrows.

Alexander Pope (1688- 1744) reminds us, “to err is human but to forgive is divine” Don’t you ever write anyone off. It takes an attitude to move forward and to brood over past mistakes and failures.

According to Edward bless, ‘Success doesn’t means the absence of failure. It means the attainment of ultimate objectives. It means winning the war, not every battle!’

Herbert H. Dow said “Don’t you ever promote a man who hasn’t make some big mistakes you‘ll be promoting a man who hasn’t done much. According to Abraham Myerson, “Great men have been characterized by the greatness of their mistakes as well as by the greatness of their achievements.

Amy Hughes counseled "It is okay to experience painful, sharp pain from time to time. You will need it to become a better pencil. The most important part of you will always been what's on the inside. You will make mistakes, everyone does, but that's why pencils have erasers. You can always make a change. Lastly, make your mark and continue to write, never give up."

Today, no mater what happens, move beyond your past and embrace a new future. The past is not a place of residence. Don't forgive people because they are weak. Forgive because you are strong and capable of creating a better tomorrow. Close the last chapter and open a brand new page.

The rest of your life shall be the best of your life.

Have a great and glorious day

NIGERIA REJECTS NEW LEVELS OF MISREPRESENTATION IN THE UK ALL-PARTY PARLIAMENTARY GROUP ON INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM REPORT ON NIGERIA.

The President and Government of Nigeria wish to thank members of the United Kingdom All-Party Parliamentary Group on International Religious Freedom or Belief for their report, launched a few days ago. Although it is difficult reading, the statement also acknowledges the importance of accurate, unbiased, depoliticised and truthful information when it comes to understanding the realities and addressing the challenges for those of faith in Nigeria. In this regard when uncritical attention is afforded to critics with dubious intentions, it only becomes harder for both the government and people of Nigeria to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve our differences, and uphold what is enshrined in our Constitution and laws: that everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. It is clear for all to see that there have, for generations in Nigeria, been tensions between our major religions, Christianity and Islam - and between herders and farmers - both for access to ...
