“There is something that is much more scarce, something finer, something rarer than ability. It is ability to recognize ability”
- Elbert Hubbard
Motivation is the act of inspiring others to be what we know they can be, do and have. It is the ability to help bring out the greatness in others. You know most humans tend to see only the worst in others and themselves, as such; they devalue rather than promote what they carry. I believe we need to breathe hope into peoples lives - our children, loves ones, friends, neighbors and the world around us.
If you believe you are destined to do great things you must be careful who you associate with. The people we should look up to should be those who steer our energies into the most worthwhile endeavours, they should be encouragers who have ability to expand our horizon to see beyond our limitations.
The best way to bringing out the best in others be it our spouse, children, friends, workers, students, followers and lots more is not to point out the worst in them but to expect the best from them.
Average and mediocre people can accomplish extra ordinary things and confound themselves if they discover someone who believes in them.
Do you know that Isaac Newton was a poor student and that Thomas Edison was referred to as dump and blocked headed by his teachers? Do you know that Leo Tolstoy was thrown out of college and Walt Disney was thrown out of his job by a newspaper editor because he had “no good ideas?”
What changed the fortune of these individuals and many more was simple? Along the line they met with personalities who believed in them. Men and women who told them they can make it; that they are capable of becoming something better; that they can attain prominence, honor and distinction.
Don’t make yourself cheap, inferior and insignificant and by no means associate with characters who don't think much of you. If you associate with weak thinkers they can bring you to their own miserable level. Associating with idiots ultimately turn you into an idiot. You cannot soar like eagles hanging around chickens.
The wise king Solomon said, "A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel"
Iron sharpened iron. Who are your mentors, heroes, father figures, teachers, role models? Where do you go to receive inspiration and encouragement? If you are too proud to look up to others, you will reach your destiny too late. Inspiration without perspiration leads to desperation.
Remember, everyone has a seed of greatness in him but life is a process and if goals and dreams were meant to be easy, then everybody would achieve them. That the journey is challenging doesn't mean we should give up. Thus, having worthy characters who have navigated the path will strengthen our resolve to keep on keeping on.
Small thinking people are not good company on the pathway to destiny. They reduce our thinking to worthlessness, smallness and ordinariness. I agree with Muhammed Ali, “Impossible is just a word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” Frank L. Gaines added, "Only he who can see the invisible can do the impossible."
Friend, Put that smile back on your face. Don’t ever let anyone bring you down based on your color, race, background, faith, sex, tribe, culture, education or anything else. You may be passing through hell but don't take pictures there. You are more than a conqueror destined for greatness.
Keep your focus and passion. Selflessly think service, develop yourself, be humble, simple, kind, compassionate, disciplined and consistent. Don't judge or devalue anyone because everyone has greatness in him. Practice greatness by treating everyone you meet with the respect and dignity they deserved.
You are a unique champion. Think and act like the king, queen, prince or princess you are. Politely endure criticisms without being resentful but dont forget to live your life on your terms.
Greatness lies, not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own solitary glory. - Henry Ward Beecher
You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to become great.
The rest of your life shall be the best of your life.
